Few Are Angels #1 - This is a freebie... grab it quickly!!!

I have been excited to read this book since I finished Few Are Angels a while ago and when it won Book of the Month I was sooooo excited all over again!! Inger even helped gain some votes and support on the poll after I tweeted her - I just love it when an author joins in the fun!! Did you check out my interview with her?? If not - click here

My Review:

One of the small things I loved about this book is that there is a song picked out at the beginning of every chapter. I only figured it by chapter 4 when I saw Florence & the Machine, as I was not familiar with the first few choices or bands - I thought they might be quotes or something. This little addition gives it a nice feel for the chapter.

Inger has a beautiful way with weaving together a story, it didn't take me long to be swept away.

Characters & Story line: 4/5

This prequel is more of Kale's story than of Kale and Helene/Ella. I really missed Ella's presence. As much as I enjoyed getting to know Kale, meeting Deacon and Sola - I loved Ella's character in Few Are Angels.

Kale - I love Kale's intensity. He is a bit of a tortured hero in this series but I love how Inger showed us his weaknesses as well. There are parts that really made my heart ache. Getting to know Kale is a beautiful story.

Deacon - Deacon is like the younger brother who is trying to tame his wild chory ways. Kale is so protective of him. I enjoyed his character and was so happy when Kale let him and Sola a little bit closer.

Sola - I was not too sure of Sola in the beginning. I liked her but she really grows on you throughout the story. I love her name and she really creeps into your heart. Sola is a beuatiful character and I hope we see her again in future books.

Plot, Pace, Writing style: 4/5

The plot jumps a bit between 1900 & 2010. Inger's writing style is so easy to follow and she slowly builds up intensity and creates intrigue. The pace was moderate. I enjoyed how Inger weaved in the meaning of the title Immortal heart and revealed the beautiy of it. It was such a touching moment in the story for me. The ending was ok for me, it gave closure. I really need to go re-read Few Are Angels to truly appreciate the significance of this book.

Cover talk: 5/5

I loved the cover. It is eye catching and sets the mood for the book beautifully.

Final Thoughts:

Although I prefer Few are Angels, Immortal Heart lays some good groundwork and you get to know Kale in a difference light.
